Real Madrid’s eleven-game unbeaten run in La Liga came to an abrupt end after going down 1-0 at lowly Getafe.
The home side punished a poor defensive mistake from Eder Militao to score the only goal of the game in the 9th minute with Enes Unal pouncing on the ball before finishing well past Thibaut Courtois.
Desperate to find an equalizer Real pushed the hosts towards their own goal with Luka Modric testing the keeper from long-range. Then Karim Benzema disrupted Getafe’s back-line with a dangerous square pass however the offside flag had been raised.
Casemiro came closest to levelling the result in the second half, but his brilliant half-volley was saved, as Getafe secured their 6th win over Los Blancos in La Liga history. Despite the defeat Carlo Ancelotti’s men are 8 points clear at the summit, whereas Getafe are only two points above the drop zone.
