The international day of solidarity with the Palestinian people has been commemorated in Tehran. Palestinian ambassador in Iran Salah Al-Zawawi speaking at a ceremony, said resistance is the only way to counter the Israeli aggression.

Meanwhile, representative of Hamas in Tehran Khaled al-Qaddumi urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities toward Palestine.

Israel was created in 1948 after a Western-backed military seizure of vast expanses of Arab territories. In 1967, Israel occupied the entire West Bank, including East al-Quds, during military operations. It later annexed the territories. Upon annexation, it also began constructing settlements, considered as illegal by the international community. Today more than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements. Tel Aviv has defied calls to stop settlement expansion in the occupied territories.

In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Analysts believe resistance is the only way to put an end to Israel's impunity of its crimes and hold this regime accountable for all its violations and aggression in the occupied lands.
