Saudi war on Yemen

A Yemeni human rights organization has released a deeply disturbing report on the situation of children amidst an ongoing Saudi-led war on the country. The organization known as INTISAF says around 4,000 children have been killed and a similar number of them injured since the start of the war and siege on Yemen in 2015. It added that more than three million children suffer from acute malnutrition while over 300 of them die every day due to lack of health services and food. The rights group said the number of children with cancer is also on the rise due to the use of internationally-banned weapons by Riyadh and its allies.

Russia-NATO row over Ukraine

Tensions between Moscow and NATO show no sign of abating. The Russian president says the western military alliance has destroyed all the mechanisms for dialogue with his country. Vladimir Putin also accused NATO of completely ignoring Russia’s concerns and warnings about its eastward expansion. The Russian president further blamed the West for simmering tensions over Ukraine conflict. He said Western countries are supplying Kiev with lethal modern weapons, accusing them of military provocations near Russia’s borders.

Migrants crisis

More drama unfolding at the border between Poland and Belarus, with Polish forces detaining around 100 migrants overnight. Warsaw accuses the Belarusian forces of cutting the fence along the border to let the migrants pass. So far, no reaction from Minsk to that accusation, but it has rejected similar allegations in the past. Thousands of men, women and children, mainly from the Middle East and Asia, are camped at the border, waiting for a chance to cross into the Europe Union. The situation remains grim there, with large crowds of desperate people, struggling to survive in freezing cold without food, water and medicine.
