US President Joe Biden has denounced the Republican Party for fear-mongering and spreading falsehoods, adding that the GOP makes empty promises to the American people to win votes in elections.
Biden, who was speaking on Monday at a virtual Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser event in the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections, said Republican politicians spread “fear and lies" in US society, in addition to breaking the promises that they make to the American people to gain their votes in the elections.
“The Republican Party today offers nothing but fear and lies and broken promises. We have to keep cutting through the Republican fog that the government isn’t the problem and show that we the people, we the people, are always the solution,” he said.
“We just have to keep making our case,” Biden insisted.
The Democratic president noted that the people of the United States will be judging them in the upcoming elections whether the current Democratic administration had helped them during the difficult time they were now going through, which the coronavirus pandemic had exacerbated.
"The question the American people are going to be asking is whether we’re helping them and their families and do we understand what they're going through, do we understand their problems, can we deliver for them,” Biden pointed out to the participants.
Biden emphasized the importance of forming a united front against the Republican party in order to win in the upcoming midterm elections. “We won in 2020 as a unified party, and as we look to 2022, we need to stay unified."
Former US president Donald Trump, in the meantime, has been raising funds for the Republican party, retaining his position as the GOP's biggest fundraiser, raising more than $50 million this year, a report says.
The funds raised by Trump for the GOP are considered to be indicative of his continuous clout in society despite being banned from social media.
The sum raised by him is reportedly more than what was raised by any of the official fundraisers of the GOP, and more than any other Republican.
