Peru have outplayed Paraguay 4-3 on penalties to move into the Copa America semifinals, following an action-packed match that ended in a 3-all draw after 90 minutes.

Gustavo Gomez scored the opener after 10 minutes to put Paraguay ahead, but 2 goals from Gianluca Lapadula gave Peru the upper hand at half time.

Paraguay rallied after the break, with Junior Alonso grabbing the equalizer in the 54th minute, but they found themselves in hot water again, as Yoshimar Yotun’s 80th minute deflected-shot put the Peruvians on the verge of victory.

Paraguay were not giving up, and Gabriel Avalos scored a last minute goal, to force a shootout. With the 2 sides locked at 3-all in penalties, Alberto Espinola missed his spot kick before Miguel Trauco got the winning goal, as Peru booked a place in the last 4.
