Afghans welcome the arrival of the fasting month of Ramadan with honor and pride despite facing numerous challenges, including poverty, the COVID-19 pandemic, and increasing violence and bloodshed.

Poverty and low control over prices in the market by the government are major problems that poor families are facing. That is why they call on responsible bodies to take strict measures in order to control the market during the holy month.

Fasting Afghans see this month as an opportunity to not only strengthen their bonds with God but also to further help and support the underprivileged in society, which is one of the fundamental teachings of Islam.

Besides other challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic in Afghanistan is also a problem on the way of fasting Afghans. This is because they religiously organize big gatherings during the holy month each year.

The continuation of terrorist attacks and bombings during the fasting month of Ramadan is one of the other headaches for Afghans, specially for military forces who are either in the frontlines or inside their posts and bases across the country .
