World No. 1 faced a resilient Russian opponent, but he used his experience to take the opener 7-5. The Serbian ace then produced a dominant display in the next set and finished it 6-2.
Djokovic who has never lost a final at Melbourne Park continued his flawless performance in the 3rd, making it 6-2 to clinch the trophy for the 3rd time in a row after 1 hour and 53 minutes.
With the victory Djoko claimed his 18th Grand Slam title leaving him 2 behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the men’s record books.
