Yemenis have come together before the UN office in Sana'a to call on the international community to step in and pressure the Saudi-led coalition into releasing seized oil vessels.
The seizure of oil vessels has left the country in desperate struggle to survive amid a harsh shortage of fuel.
Major sectors including health have warned that they may collapse in a few days if the oil vessels impounded by the Saudi-led coalition are not immediately released. Thousands of facilities have already stopped providing services due to a lack of fuel.
The Saudi-led coalition is still holding 14 Yemeni oil ships illegally because they were inspected and authorized by the United Nations through the Verification and Inspection Mechanism.
Hundreds of cars wait for days in long lines in front of the only working gas station in the capital. Yemenis say overcoming this dire situation needs a real action by the international community to pressure the Saudi-led coalition to release the oil vessels.
