Former US President Donald Trump says he has a strong support if he decides to run for president again in 2024.
Trump spoke on the phone with Newsmax Wednesday over the death of American radio personality Rush Limbaugh, who received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from the former leader in 2020.

“He [Limbaugh] thought we won the election. We did win the election as far as I am concerned, it was disgraceful what happened… He thought the result was a disgrace,” Trump said.
'Republicans are soft'
The former president refused to say whether he would run in 2024, asserting that “It’s too early to say, but I see a lot of great polls out there, that’s for sure.”
“We have tremendous support,” Trump added. “I won’t say yet... but I have tremendous support and I’m looking at poll numbers that are through the roof… I’m the only guy who gets impeached and my numbers go up.”
He further attacked GOP leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, who has called Trump responsible for encouraging supporters to storm the Capitol on Jan. 6, while voting for his acquittal in the second impeachment.
“The Republicans are soft, they only hit their own, like Mitch…if he spent the same time hitting [Senate majority leader Chuck] Schumer and [President] Biden, the Republicans would be much better off, that I can tell you,” Trump said Wednesday.
The former president, who has been banned from major social media platforms, suggested that he might return.
“We’ll see what happens, we’re negotiating with a number of people, and there’s also the other option of building your own site,” Trump told host Greg Kelly. "I understand on Twitter, it's become very boring and millions of people are leaving…They're leaving it because it's not the same, and I can understand that."

The billionaire businessman also slammed President Joe Biden for criticizing his administration over handling the Covid pandemic.
“He’s either not telling the truth or he’s mentally gone,” Trump said.
Trump’s new comments were made in the wake of the US senators’ failure to hold Trump accountable over his supporters’ deadly breach of the Capitol as the lawmakers were counting the electoral college votes of Biden.
