Australian Open: Medvedev tops Krajinovic in 5 set thriller

Over Tennis news, Daniil Medvedev has reached round 4 of the Australian Open after beating Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in a 5 set thriller.

The tournament was held behind closed doors after authorities in Melbourne announced a 5-day lockdown due to prevent a 3rd wave of COVID-19. Anyways, in this tennis match, Medvedev got the upper hand, registering a 2 sets to love advantage.

But, Krajinovic came from behind and took the following sets to send the match into a decider. However, he couldn’t keep it together in the final as Medvedev found his rhythm again and grabbed the set 6-love to wrap up the match after 3 hours. He will next play Mackenzie McDonald, who beat Lloyd Harris of South Africa.

Also, Stefanos Tsitsipas swept aside Mikael Ymer of Sweden in straight sets to reach the round of 16. The Greek had a tough challenge in the opener, but finally managed to finish it 6-4.

Tsitsipas however, dominated the match in the next 2 sets as he finished both of them 6-1 to earn the victory in just one hour and 34 minutes. Tsitsipas will next play Matteo Berrettini.
