The 6th Arba'een International Awards was held in Tehran. It honors the best films, photos and travelogues that offer the best narrative of the Arbaeen tradition.

Arbaeen is the story of millions of people who beat long distances on foot to get to the shrine of the third Shia Imam, Hussein, in Iraq, forty days after the anniversary of his martyrdom.

Some 5,000 works from 21 countries competed in the 6th edition of the annual event, the Intl. Arba'een Award.

This year, the Arbaeen Award is themed will "Generals of Resistance; Protectors of Security of Arba'een."

This is to honor late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US air raid in Iraq back in January.

Soleimani is respected by the Iraqi nation as their savior for his role in dismantling Daesh terrorists in the Arab country.

Hosted and organized by Iran's Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Arba'een Award was launched in 2014 with the aim of introducing the Arbaeen tradition and the character of Imam Hussein to an international audience.

Arba'een Intl. Award says its main goal is to get across major messages of the Muslim world through the language of art.

This they say, will help preserve the legacy of the likes of General Soleimani, whose major role as the nemesis of terrorists can now be understood through thousands of artworks created about him.
