US Democratic candidate Joe Biden has outperformed President Donald Trump in Thursday’s final presidential debate, according to a new poll.

The new poll conducted by POLITICO/Morning Consult and released on Friday showed that 54 percent of debate watchers believed the former vice president won the matchup, while 39 percent said Trump won it.

Eight percent of those who watched the debate said they did not know which candidate was better, or that thy had no opinion in this regard.

Nearly 7-in-10 of those who watched the debate said they had enjoyed the presidential debate, while 23 percent said they did not like it.

The unprecedented decision to mute each candidate’s microphone when the other was speaking by the Commission on Presidential Debates’ appeared to pay off with viewers after the first debate had constant interruptions that many criticized as an unpleasant viewing experience.

Sixty-five percent said both candidates had been more respectful to the other candidate in comparison to the chaotic first debate.

The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll was conducted on Oct. 23, surveying a nationwide sample of 1,848 registered voters, 1,163 of whom said they watched the debate. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.

Meanwhile, most national polls indicate that voters have decided whom they’re supporting in this year’s election. According to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday, Biden maintains a wide national lead over Trump.

Elsewhere, another new survey has shown that the Democratic presidential nominee has a considerable lead over Trump in the swing state of Texas. According to a Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler poll released on Sunday, Biden holds a slight lead in the state over the incumbent among likely Texan voters.

The poll showed Biden was supported by 48 percent of likely voters, compared to 45 percent voting for Trump in the swing state. The poll indicated a shift from the same poll in September, when Trump led by 2 percentage points.
