US House speaker Nancy Pelosi has slammed "apologists" for the Republican Party at CNN, which frequently comes under attack from President Donald Trump.
"With all due respect, and you know we've known each other a long time, you really don't know what you're talking about," Pelosi said in an interview with journalist Wolf Blitzer. "What I say to you is, I don't know why you're always an apologist and many of your colleagues are apologists for the Republican position."

The Democratic lawmaker was defending her opposition to a $1.8 trillion Covid-19 relief package.
Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, who often used to engage in contentious dialogs with CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta and CNN contributor April Ryan during daily press briefings, took the chance to mock the news network as well as the House speaker.
"I'm just upset. "Gimme a break... CNN is in the pocket of the president? That's insane!"

Trump has described any negative coverage of his administration as "fake news," calling the media "enemy of the people."
