Prime Minister Boris Johnson has chaired a cobra meeting regarding the corona virus but the government has stopped short at announcing social distancing measures like closing schools and cancelling sporting events. England's deputy chief medical officer says doing so would not necessarily be a response guided by science. But people are becoming increasingly nervous about using public transport to get to work and events are being cancelled across the country.

Supermarkets across the UK and many other countries in Europe are selling out of certain products as panic buying ensues. People are posting pictures of empty shelves online. Disinfectants, baby products and cupboard staples are running out fast. Super markets may ration how much people can buy of certain products to tackle the problem.

Governments across Europe have warned their citizens that the coronavirus outbreak could lead to months of serious disruption as the number of infected sour as does the death toll.

Italy, the worst affected country after China, is reporting hundreds if deaths and has now upgraded its response to a total nationwide lockdown and Germany is urging people to work from home or cycle to work after reporting its first 2 deaths. So far 4000 people worldwide have died of the virus, mostly in China.
