Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia have claimed the AFC Champions League for the 1st time after defeating Japanese club Urawa Red 3-nil on aggregate.
Al-Hilal came to the match with a 1-nil victory in hand from the 1st leg. The first half finished scoreless.
But the Saudi side gradually got the upper hand and broke the deadlock when Salem Al-Dawsari tapped the ball home from close range in the 74th minute.
Then Al-Hilal’s French striker Bafetimbi Gomis put the icing on the cake as he slotted the ball home in stoppage time.
With the victory, Al Hilal become the first club from West Asia to win the title since Al-Sadd in 2011 and they are the first team from Saudi Arabia to claim the trophy since the second of Al Ittihad back to back wins in 2005.
