The Hamas resistance movement held a rally on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of a leading prisoner swap deal in which an Israeli soldier named Gilad Shalit who was held in captivity in the Gaza was released in return for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners.
It was one of the most significant deal in the history of the Palestinian issue. Palestinians are celebrating the anniversary as a way to voice their support for all the Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
Palestinians sources say the number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails has exceeded 6,000 including children.
Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails keep launching open-ended hunger strikes over their deteriorating conditions inside and a series of systematic violations that they are subjected to.
While Israeli forces keep arresting Palestinians without charge, Palestinians demand International community and Human Rights groups to make changes to help the prisoners including more improved medical care, more family visits and more access to a public telephone along with ending the Israeli violations inside prisons.
