Roger Federer has reached the final of the Halle Open after a straight sets victory over Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

The Wimbledon preparations continued to run smoothly for the 20-time grand slam champion on Saturday. The Swiss Maestro, who is chasing a record-extending 10th title in Halle this year, broke the Frenchman in the second game of the opener, and held-on to his own to claim the first set 6-3.

Third-ranked Federer broke Herbert twice more in the second set to wrap up the victory on his first match point, in a contest that took just over an hour.

In the final showdown, Federer will face David Goffin after the Belgian went past Matteo Berrettini of Italy earlier on Saturday.

Goffin, who had also knocked out home favorite Alexander Zverev in the last eight, beat Berrettini 7-6 and 6-3 to reach his first ATP tour final since 2017.

Goffin has lost seven of his eight meetings with Federer in the past, with the only win coming at the 2017 ATP finals in London.
