China and Russia’s “united front against the depredations of US imperialism bodes well for the world’s future,” says Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has a decades-long interest in international affairs.
In an interview with Press TV on Thursday, Etler, a former professor of Anthropology at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, said, “Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three day visit to Russia, hosted by President Vladimir Putin, shows what real friendship between nations and their leaders looks like. It is in sharp contrast to the faux friendship proclaimed by US President Trump when he visits with either world leader. Trump professes to have warm and friendly relations with both Xi and Putin, but his behavior betrays his insincerity and duplicity. While glad handing them one moment he stabs them in the back the next.”
“Xi and Putin show the world how relations between countries should be handled, respect for each other’s core interests and mutual trust are of paramount importance. Once those conditions are established all other problems can be solved. The US, however, under Trump as well as his predecessors, cannot be trusted to consider anyone’s interests but their own, nor abide by their word. It is well documented that the US fabricates news and creates false flags to justify their illegal actions that go against all norms of international conduct. The US constantly creates crises so that it can unilaterally intervene anywhere and anytime it pleases to protect and promote its own national interests,” he added.
Professor Etler said, “Russia and China see the world much differently. They seek to cooperate with each other for their mutual benefit whereas the US seeks to take advantage of its trading partners for its own gain. China and Russia seek to promote peace and security while the US sows disruption and destruction. The two world views could not be more disparate.”
“If not for the US relations between Russia, China, Iran and the rest of the world would be stable and productive. It is the US that provoked tensions with Russia by infringing on its core interests by creating client states on its borders and poisoning Russia’s relations with its neighbors and the European Union. If not for US intervention in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia there would not be the spread of global terrorism that spawned the refugee crisis that has engulfed Europe,” he stated.
“If not for US efforts to destabilize and impose regime change in Latin America there would be no crisis in Central America or Venezuela. And if not for US interference in Korea and the South China Sea East and Southeast Asian nations would have settled their differences long ago,” he said.
“No matter where one looks in the world the perfidious hand of US imperialism can be seen at work creating tensions and destroying whole nations, subjecting their people to ruin and deprivation. While China has lifted millions up from poverty, the US has plunged millions into destitution. While the US wages war, destroying one country after another, decimating their infrastructure, schools and hospitals, China goes about waging peace, rebuilding what the US has destroyed. The US impoverishes other countries while China prospers them,” he noted.
“Russia, after suffering the slings and arrows of the West’s arrogance and hubris now stands with China. The two neighbors are united in struggle against US intransigence and imperial over-reach. Their united front against the depredations of US imperialism bodes well for the world’s future. It is only by standing firm against US bullying and intimidation that the world will be able advance along the road to peace, security and prosperity,” the analyst concluded.
