US President Donald Trump has described as a “witch hunt” special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 election, saying it "must never be allowed to happen again."
Mueller, a former FBI director, had been examining since May 2017 whether Trump’s election campaign colluded with Moscow to try to influence the presidential election and whether the Republican president later unlawfully tried to obstruct his investigation.
The Justice Department released the investigation results in late March, which did not uncover evidence to establish that Trump’s campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy with Moscow. However, it did show that Trump tried to impede the investigation.
"Think of it," Trump said on Twitter Sunday. "I became President of the United States in one of the most hard fought and consequential elections in the history of our great nation."
"From long before I ever took office, I was under a sick & unlawful investigation concerning what has become known as the Russian Hoax," he added in a separate tweet. "This never happened before in American history, and it all turned out to be a total scam, a Witch Hunt, that yielded No Collusion, No Obstruction."
....Hoax. My campaign was being seriously spied upon by intel agencies and the Democrats. This never happened before in American history, and it all turned out to be a total scam, a Witch Hunt, that yielded No Collusion, No Obstruction. This must never be allowed to happen again!

The redacted edition of the much-anticipated 400-page investigation was released in Mueller's report on April 18.
Democrats have taken a legal step to see all of Mueller’s evidence from his inquiry, with some members even pushing for the impeachment of Trump.
They have also vowed to further investigate Trump on matters pertaining to collusion, among other things. The Trump administration, however, has been resistant to these efforts.
