Tens of thousands of people hit the streets of Barcelona on Saturday, to protest against the ongoing trials of Catalan separatist leaders and activists, taking place in Madrid's Supreme Court.
The protesters exhibited numerous Catalan flags and placards in support of the defendants, as well as one reading "Catalonia is an EU-oppressed nation."
The trial over the various leaders' alleged role in the Catalan attempt to secede from Spain began on Tuesday in the Spanish capital.
