Rifts widen between British royals as Kate keeps berating Meghan

Reports of a widening rift in the UK royal family keeps making headlines in country as many now believe that Meghan Markle, a former US actress who married Prince Harry in May, is not the type wanted in Kensington Palace.

The Mail on Sunday newspaper suggested it was Markle who was constantly estranging the royals by refusing to observe their demands.

Markle has clashed with Kate Middleton, her sister-in-law and wife of Prince Williams, on a number of occasions, said the report.

The two daughters-in-law of Prince Charles, the first in line of succession to Queen Elizabeth II, have also decided to separate homes with Meghan and Harry reportedly planning to settle outside of London in Windsor Palace in the near future.  

Middleton is believed to be unhappy with Meghan’s lifestyle, which she sees as against the royal norms. The newspaper said Middleton had repeatedly tried to help Meghan cope with royal life but “her advice didn't go down well”.

She has also told people in Kensington that Meghan had driven a wedge between her and Harry and that the prince had become a different person after marrying Meghan.

“Meghan’s a strong character and so is Kate, so it doesn’t surprise me there have been clashes,” said a source, adding, “She (Kate) and Harry have always had a very close relationship, but she said things were different.”

The sisters-in-law clashed for a first time when Kate scolded Meghan for being rude to her staff. An aide of Meghan also quit her services after a quarrel, which left the staff in tears, according to a Daily Mirror report last month.

The British royal family is embroiled in new tensions as Prince William and Prince Harry separate homes.

However, the Mail on Sunday suggested the rift over Meghan was not only down to her manners and the royals had been opposed to having her in the family in the first place.

It said William, who is known as the Duke of Cambridge, had reservations about Harry's bride-to-be and had even told the queen and Harry about his concerns.

“The problem is that the Cambridges felt things had moved very quickly between Harry and Meghan. Wills particularly was worried and felt close enough to Harry to voice his thoughts,” said an insider to the royal family.

The planned separation of Williams and Harry is reportedly costing British taxpayers millions of pound as the Windsor is undergoing some massive renovations to become ready for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who expect a baby in the spring.  

The extravagant lifestyle of the royal family has for long irritated many in Britain, a country that struggles with record levels of poverty. In fact, a fifth of UK population, around 14 million people, live below poverty line and millions rely on direct government and charity support to sustain a living, according to recent findings by the United Nations.

This comes as the Queen and other members of the royal family mostly occupy a ceremonial position in the British government system and have no direct role in administrative issue.
