The national Iranian men’s handball team has achieved its second victory at Qatar’s four-nation tournament as it is preparing for outstanding performances at the forthcoming 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship in South Korea.
The Iranian squad, which had slumped to a 28-33 defeat against the host nation the previous day, could recover from the loss on Wednesday evening, and triumphed over the Algerian team 31-28 in its third fixture at the event.
Iranian handball players faced the Omani team on Sunday evening, and registered a 32-24 victory.
The Persians are getting ready for the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship. The tournament will be held from January 18 to 28 in Suwon, South Korea.
It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. For the first time, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh will participate in the event.
Iran has been drawn in Group A along with Iraq and Japan.
Australia, Bahrain, Oman and Uzbekistan are in Group B.
While Group C consists of Bangladesh, India, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates; China, New Zealand, Qatar and Saudi Arabia form Group D.
