The national Iranian men’s handball team has failed to overcome the Slovenian squad in a friendly match as it is preparing for the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship in South Korea.
On Thursday evening, the Iranian side, which had narrowly eked out a 33-32 win over Rokometni Klub Koper, commonly referred to as RK Koper or simply Koper on December 28, 2017, lost out to the host 19-31 in a game staged in Ljubljana.
Iran national handball team has been camping in Slovenia for several days, during which it has played a number of friendly matches.
The Persians are getting ready for the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship. The tournament will be held from January 18 to 28 in Suwon, South Korea.
It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. For the first time, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh will participate in the event.
Iran has been drawn in Group A along with Iraq and Japan.
Australia, Bahrain, Oman and Uzbekistan are in Group B.
While Group C consists of Bangladesh, India, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Qatar and Saudi Arabia form Group D.
