UK minister meeting with Israeli officials
The British politics has been rocked by revelations of unauthorized meetings between Israeli officials and Priti Patel. She has resigned as UK international development secretary because of mounting pressure over the scandal. On Monday, Patel went to Number Ten Downing Street to try to save her post after it was revealed that during her August holiday in Israel, she secretly sat down for talks with Israeli politicians - including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But later it emerged that she had held more such controversial meetings in September. Prime Minister Theresa May’s government has admitted that during her meetings in Israel, Patel discussed the idea of funneling British foreign aid money into the Israeli military. Patel’s case has turned into a major embarrassment for the British premier who says she was totally unaware of the meetings.
