The national Iranian freestyle wrestling team has finished as the overall vice champion of the 32nd edition of the World Military Wrestling Championship in Lithuania.
The Russian freestyle wrestling team was named the top-ranked squad.
The Persians claimed the second place with 50 points. Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers finished third in the overall medal table, having grabbed a gold, a silver and four bronze medals.
Alireza Karimi defeated a representative from South Korea, and snatched a gold medal for Iran in the final bout of the 86-kilogram weight category.
Reza Afzali also stood on the bronze podium in the 74-kilogram class.
Hossein Shahbazi clinched the bronze medal in the 97-kilogram weight section.
Amin Taheri also added a bronze to Iran's tally at the sporting event in the 125-kilogram weight division.
The 32nd edition of the World Military Wrestling Championship kicked off in Klaipeda, Lithuania, on September 18, and will finish on September 25, 2017.
The tournament has reportedly brought together 241 athletes from 22 countries, including Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine and the United States.
