Most North Koreans mock US President Donald Trump’s remarks on the annihilation of their country, Press TV correspondent Hamid Javani says.
Press TV: Tell us more about reactions coming forth from where you are amongst people when it comes to the threats that Donald Trump has been leveling against North Korea.
Hamid Javani: We are in the capital city of the DPRK – the city of Pyongyang – these past few days. We’ve been lucky enough to be able to talk to people on the streets. We have gained access to the places where few broadcasting just have been before and we’ve got a first-hand vision of people’s understanding of the international interactions ... their country geopolitical position and all the politics that are going around especially during the past few months. I asked them questions about the stances that specifically the US has taken towards North Korea and also talked to them about the latest remarks by … US President Donald Trump talking about the total annihilation of the country. These people here, as we have witnessed, they’re living in peace, they’re very hard-working people and as I talked to them, asked them: How would you react to these comments? Honestly, most of them were laughing in the beginning for a few seconds. I think that they were not surprised by [these statements]. It’s been for many years that they are facing these sorts of threats ... These things are nothing new to them as I talked to them and I also talked to some officials inside the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, talking about their military capabilities and the fact that it only serves defensive purposes.
