Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers stand first in Asian Cadet Championships

The national Iranian cadet Greco-Roman wrestling team has put in impressive displays of grappling skills at the Asian Cadet Championships 2017, and been crowned as the champion of the continental tournament in Thailand.

On Friday, Milad Rezanejad Hosseinvand received the silver medal after losing to Nurtanzin Kerinberdi, a representative from Kyrgyzstan, in the final bout of the 50-kilogram weight category at Bangkok Youth Center in the Thai capital city of Bangkok.

Mohsen Madhani also picked up the silver medal in the 58-kilogram weight class, and Ali Kabiri Dehkordi won the yellow metal after overcoming Chinese Greco-Roman wrestler Dongyu Li in the 69-kilogram division.

The Iranian cadet Greco-Roman outfit stood on top of the podium with a total of nine medals: three gold, five silver and one bronze. The team racked up 87 points.

Kazakhstan finished in the second place with seven medals: four gold, one silver, two bronze, having accumulated 77 points. Kyrgyzstan collected 75 points to occupy the third spot.

The Asian Cadet Championships 2017 started in the Thai capital city of Bangkok on July 20, and will finish on July 23.
