The national Iranian cadet poomsae team has featured convincing displays at the 2nd Asian Cadet Championships & 2nd Asian Cadet Poomsae Championships in Vietnam, and claimed the third spot in the continental tournament.
The Iranian squad finished third in overall standing of the event at the Military Zone 7 Stadium in southern Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, having bagged two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, the Islamic Republic of Iran Taekwondo Federation’s website reported.
The hosts finished the champion, while Thailand was named the runner-up and awarded the silver medal.
Yasin Zandi and Mohammad Amin Gomarian snatched two gold medals in the boy’s category, and Mobina Nazari added a silver to Iran’s medal tally in the girl’s section.
While Zainab Toghyani received a bronze medal in the girl’s individual competitions, Iranian boy’s and girl’s outfits got two bronzes in team contests.
The 2nd Asian Cadet Championships & 2nd Asian Cadet Poomsae Championships started in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 5 and will finish on June 7, 2017.
Dozens of male and female taekwondo practitioners from various Asian countries, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, the Philippines, South Korea and Uzbekistan, have taken part in the event.
