The Iranian men’s national beach volleyball team has finished its campaign at the Moscow FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, after falling to the Czech squad in its opening playoff match of the US$150,000 tournament.
On Wednesday, the Iranian pair of Bahman Salemi and Rahman Raoufi notched up a 21-16 victory over their Czech counterparts Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner in the first set of the preliminary round match in the Russian capital city of Moscow.
The Czechs, however, were the better duo in the second set and managed to take it by 23 points to 21.
Both teams were tailing each other point by point in the third set. The Czechs gained an advantage of two points before Iranians hit back to draw level at 14-all. A point-for-point continued through 16-16, after which the Czechs grabbed two points in a row, and won the final set 18-16.
The Moscow FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour began in Russia on May 30, and will finish on June 4, 2017.
