Iranian cyclist Mohammad Daneshvar Khorram has put an awe-inspiring end to his campaign at the 2017 China Track Cup, and collected a gold medal at the sports event.
On Tuesday, the 23-year-old Iranian sportsman competed against five other cyclists from the host nation and Taiwan at the final men elite – keirin event in the Chinese capital city of New Delhi, and picked up the yellow metal.
The 2017 China Track Cup opened in Beijing on May 22 and concluded the following day.
It marked as a qualification tournament for the 2018 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Championships in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn.
Cycling's world governing body announced on April 16 that the Omnisport Arena will stage the 2018 championships from February 28 to March 4.
“Following a very successful 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong, track cycling's flagship event returns to Europe in 2018. The 2018 edition will take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands,” the UCI said.
Apeldoorn hosted the 2011 Track World Championships and is now a regular venue on the Track World Cup circuit.
The Dutch city also hosted the 2015 Para-cycling Track World Championships.
