The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has picked the national Iranian men’s cycling team as the second greatest team in Asia, thanks to its remarkable performances at continental sports events.
According to the latest monthly rankings released by the world’s governing body for sports cycling and international competitive cycling events, the Iranian squad gained 1,684 points to stand behind Kazakhstan in the second position.
Kazakhs topped the Asian slot of the UCI rankings with 1,787 points.
Japan and South Korea claimed the third and fourth spots respectively with 821 and 726 points.
Additionally, Iranian cycling club Pishgaman Kavir Yazd received 830 points and was placed behind Japanese squad, Team Ukyo, with 965 in the continental ranking.
Tabriz Shahrdari Team, another Iranian squad, collected 765 points and landed in the third place.
Kazakhstan’s Alexey Lutsenko was named the best road race cyclist in Asia, having tallied 392.
Iranian cyclists Rahim Emami and Arvin Moazami Goudarzi claimed the second and third positions among other Asian counterparts with 374 and 345 points respectively.
