Iranian sportsmen have featured rather convincing performances at the third leg of Asian Grand Prix 2017 in Chinese Taipei, and claimed three bronze medals at the continental sporting event.
Iranian high jumper Kayvan Ghanbarzadeh earned a bronze medal for the Islamic Republic by registering 2.24 meters in the final contest. Zhao Sun from China snatched the gold medal of the heat with 2.27 meters. Chinese Taipei’s Hsiang Chun-Hsien pocketed the silver.
Ali Samari vied in the men's shot put competitions, and picked a bronze medal with a winning throw of 18.68 meters.
The gold and silver medals went to Indian and Chinese shot putters Om Prakash Singh Karhana and Jiaxing Wu with winning throws of 19.58 and 19.21 meters in their final attempts.
Moreover, Mostafa Ebrahimi clocked 1:52.66 in the men's 1500-meter race, and landed in the third position to be awarded the bronze medal.
A Sri Lankan contestant set the time of 1:51.34 to take the gold medal. A representative from India recorded 1:51.35 and received the silver.
The third leg of Asian Grand Prix 2017 was held in Chinese Taipei on April 30, 2017.
