Iranian professional snooker player Hossein Vafaei Ayouri has climbed 12 spots in the latest global ranking and nestled in the 64th place, thanks to his brilliant performance at the 2017 China Open.
The 22-year-old Iranian defeated English professional snooker player Joe Perry 5-2 in his first encounter of the 2017 China Open, which took place between March 27 and April 2 at the Beijing University Students' Gymnasium in the Chinese capital city of Beijing.
Vafaei then edged Ben Woollaston of England 5-4 in the next round, before overcoming another English opponent, Rory McLeod, 5-3 in the Round of 16.
The Iranian player defeated 27-year-old English professional snooker player and world’s No. 2 Judd Trump 5-3 in the quarterfinals.
He, however, fell to former world champion and world’s No. 22 Mark Williams 1-6 in the semi-finals, and finished in the third place in the competition.
