A terrorist murdered three people and injured at least 40, mowing down pedestrians and stabbing a police officer.
The driver ran into the Parliament compound, carrying two blades where he fatally stabbed a police officer.The assailant was shot by police and taken into custody, but later died, according to the Metropolitan Police. Westminster was immediately put on lockdown with MPs told to remain in the main chamber or in their offices
A total of 29 people were treated in hospital following the carnage, with seven people remaining in critical condition on Thursday morning. The injured included 12 Britons, including three police officers who were returning from an event to recognize their bravery.
Meanwhile, at the scene of one of the police raids - a flat in Hagley Road, Birmingham, where the attacker is believed to have lived - witnesses told how black-clad officers equipped with machine guns smashed their way into the property.
