Iran men's national football team, domestically known as Team Melli, has plunged three spots in the latest edition of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rankings to land in the 32nd spot in the world, but maintained its position as the best Asian squad.
According to the latest monthly rankings released by the world’s soccer governing body on Thursday, the Iranian outfit collected 798 points and defended the title as the top soccer outfit in Asia.
Other Asian teams included South Korea, which dropped two positions to the 39th slot in the latest FIFA rankings with 691 points, followed by the Japanese and Australians, who occupied the 52nd and 54th spots respectively with 629 and 621 points.
Argentina remains the top-ranked soccer team in the world, with 1,635 points.
Brazil garnered 1,529 points to claim the second position, while third-place Germany earned 1,433 points. Chile also stayed put in the world rankings and stood fourth with 1,386 points.
