Iran national under-17 football team has been drawn in Group D of the upcoming 2017 Granatkin Memorial, an annual youth association football tournament in memory of first FIFA Vice-President Valentin Granatkin.
The Iranian outfit, more commonly known as Nojavanan, has joined squads from Moldova, Saint Petersburg and Slovenia in the group stage of the event.
Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece and Tajikistan formed Group A in the upcoming tournament.
Belarus was put in Group B of the group stage of the sports event in Saint Petersburg, and accompanied squads from India, Latvia and Russia. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Slovakia shaped Group C.
The 2017 Granatkin Memorial International Youth Football Tournament will be staged between January 8 and 21 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The first edition of the tournament was held in 1981, and West Germany became the champion. Soviet Union-1 finished as the runner-up and Spain landed in the third place.
Slovenia, Saint Petersburg and Russia claimed the top three spots of the previous edition.
