The Iranian national under-17 soccer team, known in Iran as Nojavanan, has claimed the third position after winning the Turkmenistan in the end of a four-nation tournament in Uzbekistan.
On Friday, the Iranian outfit vanquished Turkmenistan 6-0 in its final match in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent.
The Iranian team comprised goalkeeper Ali Gholamzadeh, defenders Taha Shariati, Aref Mohammadalipour, Mohammad Reza Davari and Amir Hossein Esmaeilzadeh, midfielder Mohammad Sharifi, Vahid Namdari, Mohammad Ghaderi, captain Mohsen Goudarzi, as well as forwards Mohammad Reza Ghobeishavi and Mohammad Sardari in the initial line-up.
Namdari, Sharifi, Sardari and Ghaderi got their names on the score sheet once, while substitute forward Erfan Sadeghi was on target twice.
Later in the day, young Japanese soccer players defeated the hosts 2-0 in the concluding encounter of the competition to pick up the trophy.
The four-nation tournament in Uzbekistan started in Tashkent on March 1, and wrapped up on March 4.
It served as a warm-up for the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship, which will be the 17th edition of the biennial international youth soccer championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
