The Iranian men’s national beach soccer team has secured a well-deserved position in the final showdown of the first edition of the Continental Tournament in China, following an overwhelming victory over the Japanese team.

On Wednesday, the Iranian squad, which subdued Bahrain 10-1 in its opening match of the three-day-long tournament the previous day, had a vast array of scoring chances but managed to conquer the East Asians 5-1 at the end of a semi-final game played in Ordos city in China's northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Iran’s forward Mohammad Ahmadzadeh found the back of the net twice, while forwards Farid Boloukbashi and Mohammad Ali Mokhtari in addition to defender Amir Hossein Akbari claimed a goal each.

The first edition of the Continental Tournament started in Ordos on August 23, and will conclude on August 25.

The tournament serves as a warm-up event for the participating teams prior to the 5th edition of Asian Beach Games, which will open in the south-central Vietnamese city of Da Nang on September 24, and will run until October 3.

The competing countries in the first edition of the Continental Tournament also have an eye on the Asian qualification tournament for the the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, whose date and venue are yet to be announced.

The 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which will mark the ninth edition of the international sports event, will be played from April 27 to May 7 in the Bahamian capital city of Nassau.
