Iran’s men’s national beach soccer team has become Asia’s best in the September edition of the Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) rankings, and landed in the seventh spot in the world.
According to the latest monthly rankings released by the BSWW, the organization responsible for the founding and growth of the association football derivative sport of beach soccer, the Iranian team collected 1,574 points, ranking first in Asia.
Japan claimed the 11th slot in the latest BSWW rankings with 1,078 points. The Samurais are followed by the United Arab Emirates and Oman, which occupied the 13th and 14th spots respectively with 1,009 and 886 points.
Powerhouse Russia is the top-ranked beach soccer team in the world with 3,174 points. Portuguese amassed 3,116 points to claim the second position while third-place Brazilians bagged 2,630 points. Italy stands fourth with 2,117 points.
Iran moves up one spot in FIFA rankings
Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic of Iran has climbed one position in the September edition of the FIFA rankings to sit in the 39th place in the world.
According to the latest monthly rankings released by the world soccer governing body on Thursday, the Iranian team received 703 points and held on to their berth at the top of Asia.
South Korea rose to the 53rd spot in the latest FIFA monthly rankings with 590 points. The Japanese and Australians stood behind the Japanese. They collected 582 and 567 points to occupy the 57th and 58th slots respectively.
Argentina is ranked the top soccer team in the world with 1,419 points, followed by second-place Germans, who have earned 1,401 points. Belgium stands third with 1,384 points and is followed by Portugal with 1,235 points.
