Turkey arrests 11 commandos 'planning to seize Erdogan'

  • Turkey has detained 11 fugitive commandos who were allegedly involved in a plan to seize President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during last month’s failed coup. Turkish Special Forces engaged in a fire exchange with the commandos in Mugla province before capturing them.

  • Firefighters are battling a raging wildfire that has forced the evacuation of hundreds of people in the US state of California. The blaze has consumed 18-hundred acres of land and burned dozens of structures since Friday. Firemen have so far managed to contain only five percent of the fire.
  • Muslims across France have gathered in churches in solidarity with Christians. A top Imam led a delegation to a Catholic mass in Nice after a truck attack killed scores of people there. Muslims also joined worshipers in a cathedral in Normandy where Daesh terrorists slit the throat of an 85-year-old priest.

  • Thousands of Brazilians have marched in the in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to call for the ouster of acting president Michel Temer. The demonstrators have also expressed support for suspended President Dilma Rousseff. The demonstrations come ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
  • India says thousands of its workers have been laid off by Saudi Arabia recently and are facing a food crisis in the kingdom. New Delhi says it will send officials to Saudi Arabia in order to bring back the workers. Riyadh is experiencing one of its worst economic situations due to low global oil prices.
