Press TV has interviewed Massoud Shadjareh, a member of the Islamic Human Rights Commission in London, to discuss the remarks made by Syria's Ambassador to the United Nations Bashar Ja'afari saying European governments contribute to the passage of terrorists to Syria and Iraq.
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: What do you make of Bashar Ja’afari’s comments about European terrorism?
Shadjareh: Well there is differently a call to be made that Europeans and the West and United States with their allies - Saudi Arabia, Qatar and elsewhere in the [Persian] Gulf states - are actually supporting and financing and making it possible for groups like Daesh, al-Nusra and others to conflict all these atrocities and the fact that you see these convoys of latest model of four-wheel drive, all the same color, all the same model, this sort of facilities does not get beamed down to Daesh, it needs to go through borders.
These vehicles, they have GPS. You could see them at any given time where they are. There is a question to be answered. How come these vehicles end up in that sort of way, in such a large number, same color, it is almost that we mean ordered especially for them and the Daesh is actually using, how is being financed, how is being able to sell oil, all of these will not happen without the support of the West.
Press TV: You brought me to my next question, the fact that how much do you agree with him that it is impossible without the coordination of intelligence agencies that these individuals coming from Europe would not have been able to go to Syria?
Shadjareh: Yes, I think even the numbers of going from the West to Syria is really tip of the iceberg. The fact is that there are hundreds of thousands more going from Tunisia and other Arab countries and indeed there are evidence that Saudi Arabia going to its prison and getting the Takfiris and saying we will release you if you go to Syria.
So really it is happening in much wider scale than just few misguided individuals going from Europe. The whole financing of the terrorist group, it really needs to be addressed and I think this issue has never been addressed and we see that when Russia got involved, they actually conflicted a huge sort of thing against Takfiri groups and the terrorist group while the West has been claiming that they are in forefront of it but they have never made any role in tackling the terrorist groups in Syria or in Iraq.
So really these issues need to be addressed and it is urgency. If it is not addressed, we are going to find these groups continuing getting those resources and support and the people who will really suffer are the ordinary innocent civilians both in Iraq and Syria.
Press TV: And so what policies should be set for the Europeans to stop these Europeans from going to Syria?
Shadjareh: Well to stop the Europeans going to Syria, well we had a case in Britain, it goes beyond the stopping. It will get two cases that went to court in Britain, people being charged for going and supporting the terrorist groups in Syria. Both of those cases were thrown out of court because the lawyers of these individuals managed to prove that the groups that these individuals were supporting were also groups that were supported by the British government and indeed the intelligence services on one of the cases has approved them going to help and support this particular group.
So it really is very clear that on certain level the intelligence and the armies and the institutions in the West, including Britain and United States are supporting these terrorist groups.
