Iran has dispatched a medical team to Iraq to help victims of recent chemical attacks by Daesh terrorist group in the Arab country’s northern province of Kirkuk.

Iran’s Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi said on Saturday that the Iranian medical team has been sent to Iraq following a request by the Iraqi side for emergency help to the Arab country.

He added that the team will constantly monitor the situation of the wounded Iraqis and provide them with medicine and emergency medical services in the shortest time.

In a telephone conversation with Hashemi on Wednesday, Iraqi Health Minister Adilah Husayn asked for emergency medical help to those wounded in Daesh chemical attacks in Kirkuk.

A three-year-old girl lost her life and up to 600 others sustained injuries during chemical attacks by Daesh militants near the city of Kirkuk, according to reports.

According to Iraqi security and hospital officials, the latest attack took place early on Saturday in the small town of Taza, which was also struck by a barrage of rockets carrying chemicals three days earlier.

Daesh has reportedly been trying to produce chemical weapons and is believed to have formed a special unit for chemical weapons research. Iraqi scientists from the Saddam-era weapons program as well as foreign experts are thought to be working for the terror group.

Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since Daesh terrorists launched an offensive in June 2014, and took control of portions of the Iraqi territory.

The militants have been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.

Iraqi army soldiers and fighters from allied Popular Mobilization Units are seeking to win back militant-held regions in joint operations.
