At least five people have been killed and nearly two dozen others injured in separate rocket attacks by foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants against residential areas across Syria.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two children lost their lives and five others were injured when several rockets fired by Daesh Takfiri militants struck neighborhoods across As-Safira city of Aleppo Province in northwestern Syria on Saturday, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.
The projectiles also caused substantial damage to several houses and public properties at the targeted areas.
Separately, three civilians were injured in a terrorist rocket attack on al-Zahraa town of Aleppo. Ten more people were injured as militant rockets slammed into the predominantly Christian and Armenian neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah in the same province.
Elsewhere in the southwestern city of Dara’a, located about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Damascus, three civilians were injured when foreign-backed terrorists fired rocket and mortar shells at two residential areas.
Later in the day, two civilians were killed and 12 others injured when several militant rockets struck Sahnaya town, southwest of Damascus in the Western Ghouta.
On February 3, at least 17 civilians lost their lives and 101 others were injured when several rockets fired by militants struck neighborhoods across Dara’a.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has claimed the lives of some 470,000 people and left 1.9 million injured, according to the Syrian Center for Policy Research.
Moreover, 6.36 million people have been displaced internally and more than four million others have fled the country since the beginning of the conflict. That accounts for 45 percent of the country’s population, which has shrunk by 21 percent.
Syria accuses Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar of funding and arming terrorist groups operating inside the country, including Daesh.
