Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has warned against the reemergence of Daesh Takfiri terrorists in neighboring Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Speaking at a high-level meeting on Syria in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday, Hussein stated that the desert Hauran region, which spans parts of Iraq’s western province of al-Anbar and the southwestern Syrian province of Dara’a, has turned into a conduit for militants who manage to sneak across the border and evade detection.

He also proposed that the Baghdad government’s experience in the fight against Daesh could be used as a familiar and helpful example.

The top Iraqi diplomat went on to note that the danger of Daesh resurgence has increased significantly, stressing that the terror outfit still remains a serious threat to the entire West Asia region.

In his remarks, Hussein also said that Iraq is closely monitoring the situation at 26 detention facilities run by the US-sponsored and Kurdish-led militants from the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria.

He added that more than 10,000 Daesh terrorists and high-profile commanders are currently being held behind bars at the prisons.

Report: 50% of weapons used by Daesh in Syria made in US

Meanwhile, a recent report has revealed that approximately half of weapons used by Daesh terrorists in Syria are made in the US.

Al-Maalomeh news agency, citing informed sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that the Takfiri militants are active in about a dozen regions in Syria.

The sources continued that the existence of such substantial amount of US-built weapons in the hands of Daesh elements suggests that the terrorists are secretly being armed.

This comes as US occupation troops continue their illegal presence in energy-rich regions across northern Syria.

The sources also asserted that Daesh terrorists are moving freely in large swathes of Syria, and American forces are not taking any action to target them.
