Israeli forces have shot and killed two more Palestinians in the occupied West Bank over alleged stabbing attempts.
According to Palestinian Ma’an news agency, the first shooting took place on Thursday near the Beit Einun junction northeast of the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).
“Forces on site responded and fired towards the attacker, resulting in his death,” a statement by the Israeli military said.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces prevented Palestinian Red Crescent medics from approaching the Palestinian and attending to him.
Reports said no Israeli soldiers sustained injuries in the alleged attack.
Elsewhere in the occupied West Bank, Israeli troops opened fire and killed a Palestinian north of Nablus after he allegedly tried to carry out an stabbing attack.
Clashes broke out between locals and Israeli forces following the incident.
The Beit Einun junction has been site of at least four Palestinian deaths this month.
More than 150 Palestinians have been killed since violence increased in the occupied Palestinian territories last October.
Tensions have been running high in the West Bank since Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem). Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam.
The restrictions have enraged Palestinians, who are also angry at growing violence by Israeli settlers frequently storming the al-Aqsa Mosque. They say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
Ismail Haniyeh, a senior leader of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has recently stressed that the Palestinian nation would continue the ongoing Intifada (uprising) against the Tel Aviv regime until all of its objectives are achieved.
