Syrian army troops have liberated several areas from Daesh Takfiri terrorists across the country.

Government forces recaptured several villages in the central Homs Province and regained control over a number of areas in Hama, Latakia, Dara’a, and Aleppo on Wednesday.

The Syrian air force gave cover to the ground forces during the operations by targeting Daesh positions from the air, destroying the terror group’s vehicles and killing a number of its members.

In another Wednesday development, Syrian Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) engaged in heavy clashes with the elements of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front on the outskirts of the town of Afrin in Aleppo.

Meanwhile, a number of Daesh terrorists were killed or injured in clashes with the Syrian army in the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr, Lebanon’s al-Ahed reported. The report added that heavy fighting occurred between Daesh terrorists and other militant groups in the northern suburbs of Aleppo.

Separately, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least ten Takfiri militants, including a top leader of the al-Nusra Front, were killed by the Syrian army near Dara’a.

Syrian forces have recently been making rapid advances against the terrorists who are committing heinous crimes against all religious groups in several parts of the country.

The advances of the Syrian government forces against Daesh and other terrorist groups have been expedited by the air cover provided by Russia. The Russian aerial campaign in Syria began on September 30 at the request of the Damascus government.

The crisis in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of over 250,000 people and displaced nearly half of the country’s population within or out of its borders.
