A Palestinian shot and critically injured by Israeli regime forces during a demonstration in central Gaza Strip less than a week ago has died of his wounds, medics say.
Yousif Abu Sbeikha al-Buheiri, 48, succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening. He had been shot during clashes in Deir al-Balah south of the Gaza City on Christmas Day.
On Monday, a teenage Israeli settler attacked and injured a Palestinian girl, identified as Dania Abu Remaileh, south of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the occupied West Bank.
Witnesses said the assault took place while Israeli forces stood by and watched the incident.
Tensions are high in the occupied Palestinian territories following Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam. Palestinians say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
Nearly 140 Palestinians have been killed in the recent wave of clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since the start of October.
