Press TV has conducted an interview with Jim W. Dean, an analyst, and Richard Millett, a journalist and political commentator, to discuss the roles of Russia and the US in the Syrian peace process.
Dean criticizes the Western powers’ so-called fight on terrorism and praises Russia’s stance on the Syrian conflict, saying that Russian President Vladimir “Putin has been beating up on the West for dragging its feet.”
The situation in Syria has “really exposed the hypocrisy of the phony Western coalition against Daesh, which allows the supplies continue... and the huge oil business that we know of,” he says.
“The war would be going much better if Turkey had not been flowing supplies and manpower and funding in northern Syria,” Dean says, adding that, “There is not a cab driver in any country in the world that does not know about the [Persian] Gulf states supporting Daesh.”
Pointing to the role of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the future politics of his country, the analyst says the Syrian president will not quit power unless people vote for his departure, which Dean says is unlikely.
Millett, for his part, claims that Takfiri Daesh group has gained momentum because of the Western powers hesitance to attack Syria two years ago.
