At least three civilians, including a child, have been killed in a series of attacks carried out by foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants against residential areas in Syria’s capital city of Damascus.

According to a source at Damascus Police Command, a child was killed and at least two other persons sustained injuries in a mortar attack on Ein al-Kirsh neighborhood on Sunday, the official news agency SANA reported.

Separately, two civilians were killed and 30 others were injured when mortar shells fired by militants struck the al-Wafideen Camp, a neighborhood in the Damascus countryside. Most of the victims are said to be school students.

In another attack, at least one person was wounded as a shell fired by militants landed in May 29 Street of Damascus. A number of buildings and vehicles in the area were damaged.

Cities and towns across Syria have been witnessing bomb attacks as well as mortar and rocket fire by Takfiri terrorists since a deadly conflict broke out in the country more than four years ago.

Syrian forces have recently been making rapid advances against the Takfiri terrorists, who are committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups, in several parts of the crisis-hit country.

The advances of the Syrian government forces against Daesh and other terrorist groups have been expedited by the air cover provided by Russia, which began on September 30 at the request of the Damascus government.

The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured, according to the United Nations.
