A US plane has been evacuated for several Muslim passengers to be searched and questioned over watching a video allegedly from the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
As concerns over Islamophobia across the West were growing in the wake of the deadly Paris attacks, on Tuesday morning, four passengers, three men and a woman, were removed from the Spirit Airlines plane at Baltimore after the female passenger was seen watching a video that another passenger thought was one by Daesh, multiple reports quoted unnamed sources as saying.
Spirit Airlines officials said that the incident took place when Flight 969 from Baltimore-Washington International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport was taxiing towards the runway.
"A passenger alerted a flight attendant of a passenger engaged in suspicious activity on board," an official said, adding, the plane returned to the gate, and police removed the four.
According to Spirit Airlines spokesman Stephen Schuler, “Law enforcement officers removed four passengers from the plane for questioning. All passengers were deplaned for a brief time.”
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel rescreened all the baggage on the flight including the bags belonging to the four passengers who were pulled off.
"No threat was found," TSA spokesman Mike England said in a statement. "Once the TSA cleared the plane and luggage, the flight departed for Chicago's O'Hare International Airport."
Police officials said, all the four passengers were released without charges after a few hours.
The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Paris that killed over 130 people and some 350 others injured late on Friday.
